As the sun set over Lakmé Fashion Week, editors, stylists and everyone else in attendance headed down to Mehboob Studios where the five-day fashion affair was going to come to a suitable close. Set on a pedestal, yep, there’s no other word to describe it, in one of the larger studios was a sculpture of a woman’s face, her hair flying in the wind. Gaurav Gupta’s models were to walk around this face with the pedestal as their runway and as the lights dimmed, we were witness to one of the most spectacular finales Lakmé Fashion Week has seen so far.
As per the usual Lakmé Fashion Week finale, Kareena Kapoor Khan played showstopper for the night but unlike every other time, as soon as she walked onto the runway, chills would be the right word to describe what everyone felt. The perfect pout, updo and a gorgeous outfit, the five-day fashion week couldn’t have ended on a better note.
Until next season, Lakmé Fashion Week!
Akshay Kumar and his sister Alka have always been up to mischief like all siblings, so today was no different as they shot this hilarious dubsmash to commemorate Raksha Bandhan.
According to TheQuint, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s plan to launch one all-women police station in every district comes into effect today, on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, with the opening of the first such station in Panchkula.
According to the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) statistics, Haryana alone registered 8,974 cases of crime against women in 2014.
Director General of Haryana Police, Yash Pal Singhal, told Hindustan Times, “Each of the 21 police stations have been fully trained and legally empowered to exercise powers. Each police station will have a minimum strength of 38 to 40 woman cops.”
This is a welcome move towards women’s safety as well as their empowerment. It will provide a comfortable and safe environment for women to come forward and lodge complaints.
We all know Nana Patekar to be this amazing film actor who mostly does serious roles in movies. But we have witnessed his comic side too in films like Welcome and Bluffmaster. And guess what he’s reprising that role on Welcome Returns too! But it’s not his work as an entertainer we’re going to talk about here. It’s his work as a concerned and responsible citizen which we’re hinting at. Usually, Nana Patekar is perceived as a serious yet simple person in real life too. But when you’ll hear what he did for the families of farmers recently, your perception about him is bound to take a 360 degrees turn!
Along with fellow actor Makarand Anaspure, Nana Patekar has recently donated Rs. 15,000 each to the 62 families of farmers who committed suicide. In fact, he visited these families himself to handover the money. Not only that, he’s also planning to approach the government to assist their cause. Earlier also, Patekar has helped the farmers financially for drought relief. He has visited around 112 farmers’ families in Marathwada. And he further plans to connect with 700 more in the areas of Nagpur, Latur, Hingoli, Parbani, Nanded, Aurangabad, etc.
This is such an applaudable gesture. Let’s just hope he sets a positive example for everyone out there.
