Salman Khan Hit And Run: All Case Files Destroyed In Mantralaya Fire

The Salman Khan hit-and-run case is easily one of the most controversial cases in recent times. The #SalmanVerdict came with its set of reactions from all quarters and Salman’s eventual bail proved to be a relief for bhai fans all over. And now, in another twist of events, it’s been reported that Salman’s case files were burnt in the Mantralaya fire that happened in June 2012. On June 15, 2015, an appeal date would be decided on board for the directions. Meanwhile,Salman Khan has been given permission to travel abroad.

India Gets Its First Transgender College Principal In West Bengal!

Transgender people struggle a lot for finding social acceptance. not because they are transgender, but because of the society. For worse cases, they are not accepted by their own families. The whole life is caught between their own cobwebs.

Meet Manabi Bandyopadhyay. A transgender, who’s currently Associate Professor in Bengali at Vivekananda Satobarshiki Mahavidyalaya and who is going to be the college principal when she takes charge of Krishanagar Women’s college from June 9. For the first time in India, or probably the world!

“This decision was taken by the College Service Commission. I don’t interfere in their decisions. They are aware of our open mind. I am happy with this decision,” state education minister Partha Chatterjee said on Tuesday.

But, Manabi had her own share of problems. The path has never been easy. Her father never supported her and she was subjected to all taunts from her own father. The society was never far behind. Her school and college mates used to taunt her. That never deterred her strong spirit and she continued working hard as she had realised that she had to do something important.

In 2003, she gathered the courage and underwent a sex change operation which costed her five lakh rupees. After that, she changed her name from Somnath to Manabi. For this, the college authorities created troubles and she wasn’t allowed to work as she got the job as Somnath.

These Posters Show How To Fix The Way Society Treats Rape Victims

Almost everybody today has a comment to make about  the most ‘overhyped’ crime in India, rape. Be it politicians, khap panchayats or the Godmen in India, everyone is quick to offer their outlandish theory about the causes and remedies of rape.

Rape has been oddly justified by reasons as bizarre as ‘wearing jeans’ to ‘eating chowmein.’ The story, however, never ends there. The social stigma attached to the crime aggravates the pain even more.

These posters created by Himani Auplish as a social media campaign for a class project  and originally uploaded on Behance shows how the society judges rape victims and never the rapist. But the best part is, they show how simple the solution is: change the way we think.

For Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan, the success of TWMR is huge as it is marching towards the Super-hit zone now. The film is clearly enjoying the best word of mouth of the year and the surprising part is that it is doing well even in non-Hindi speaking zones of the country. Meanwhile, the film’s super success has further buoyed the fortunes of Eros as they have now scored a hat trick of successes this year after Badlapur and NH10, each of which were very different affairs also.
